Jonny Cope
Author of the best-selling series How to Play the Didjeridoo
(available in book and CD and now DVD formats) Jonathan Cope has played
didjeridoo for over fifteen years, both solo and with other musicians.
Having studied with several
well-known international players and Australian Aboriginal Elders, Jonathan
has been teaching all levels of this increasingly popular instrument for
the past nine years. Teaching ranges from private one-to-one sessions to
group workshops, which have been held at Gaunts House, Didjin
Devon, Didj Fest, and several venues in Central London.
A lifetime fascination with rare and unusual sounds has also led Jonathan
to seek many vocal techniques and instruments that can be used to soothe
body, mind, and soul. Scientific studies have confirmed the many benefits
of music and sound, particularly their ability to combat stress and allow
the body to self-regulate and heal itself. Having studied for many years
with leading exponents in these varied techniques Jonathan now also offers
tuition and workshops in various styles of Mongolai / Tuvan throat
or overtone singing, chant, mantras, and the use of jaw harps, Tibetan
prayer bowls, crystal bowls, frame drums, fujara, bells, gongs, chimes,
amongst others.
Jonathan is currently
lives in London but travels wherever sound takes him.
